Perth primary school locked down after attempted robbery nearby

It's understood pupils were kept indoors as a precaution

A primary school in Perth was locked down this morning following an attempted robbery at a nearby shop.

It is understood that pupils at Oakbank Primary School were kept inside after police were called to West Mains Avenue shortly after half past 8.

There are no reports of any injuries and a 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told us: “Around 8.40am on Wednesday, 14 June, 2023, officers received a report of an attempted robbery at a premises on West Mains Avenue, Perth.

“A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident."
