A man who murdered Steven Donaldson has been found dead in his prison cell.

Steven Dickie, 24, was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years behind bars after the attack on the oil worker in Angus in June 2018.

It comes as his two accomplices, Callum Davidson, 24, who was also convicted of murder, and Tasmin Glass, 20, who was found guilty of culpable homicide, failed in a bid to appeal their sentences.

They were ordered to spend 24 and 10 years behind bars respectively.

Steven was lured to the play park in Kirriemuir by his ex-girlfriend, Glass, before he was beaten and his body set on fire.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: "Steven Alexander Dickie, a prisoner at HMP Perth has died.

"He was convicted at Edinburgh Court on 30 May 2019.

"Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
