One of two dogs stolen from a remote farm in Perthshire has been found more than 300 miles away in the East Midlands.

A dog walker discovered the cocker spaniel on a rural road in Nottinghamshire yesterday.

The search for the other missing pet (pictured in article) is still ongoing.

Owner Iona Mcgregor says she's barely been able to sleep since her kennels were broken into.

"I've hardly been eating, I feel physically sick. The stress has been insane, I've never been so stressed and scared in my life," said the 18-year-old.

"It's just the not knowing where the other dog is that's the absolutely petrifying thing."

The Mcgregor family was alerted yesterday by a dog warden in Nottinghamshire after the pet was spotted in the village of Brinsley.

It was said to be hot and stressed, but is now back in Perthshire.

"I'm absolutely speechless, I'm so so happy. I was shaking and crying when she heard it'd been found.

"I just desperately need them both home."

Last Thursday's theft in Amulree came a few days after two similar dogs were taken from the Highland town of Kingussie, however Police Scotland is not believed to be treating the two incidents as linked

It's not yet clear where the second missing dog could be located.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are continuing into the theft of two dogs from Amulree near Dunkeld which happened on Tuesday, 15 July.

“One of the dogs has been traced in the Nottinghamshire area and officers continue to carry out enquiries in Scotland and England in relation to their theft.

“Anyone with information to assist these enquiries should call 101 and quote incident 2071 of 15 July.”
