Olympic gymnastics hopeful Dan Purvis took some time out of his busy training schedule to visit a primary school in Monifieth this morning.

He's been speaking to our reporter Lizzie Parker:

The athlete won bronze at London 2012 as part of Team GB's men's team.

He also won three medals including a gold for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He's from Merseyside but qualified for the Scottish team because his mum is originally from Dundee.

His aunt works at Grange Primary in Monifieth and he was there this morning hoping to inspire the pupils to eat healthy and get active.

His visit is part of Team GB and Aldi's Get Set to Eat Fresh schools initiative.

He said: "I've always come back to Dundee for holidays and Christmas but this is the first time I've visited my auntie's school. It's been great to see it and I've had a really warm welcome.

"It's busy at the moment training 30 hours a week but it's nice to give back and show kids what it's like to be a gymnast.

"I've come here this morning to talk to them about healthy eating and what it is. It's really important - not just for athletes but for school work and staying mentally focussed."
