Why we love living in Tayside & Fife <3

We all deserve some down time, right? We asked the Tay FM team to share that 'one place' they love to visit when they are not on-air.

Webster (Wake Up With Webster) : Perth

Perth is the Perth-fect place for a weekend ramble... Not the kind of ramble you hear from me every morning on the radio. As a family we like to take the kids on ‘adventures’ and at their age that means walking anywhere really while teaching them about the wonders of wildlife. Being near the River Tay, Perth has many beautiful routes…oh and watch out for the Kingfishers!

Claire Kinnaird (Wake Up With Webster) : Loch Leven

Being a Kinross girl, one of my favourite places to relax is at Loch Leven. There’s now a heritage trail that’s been made so you can walk/run/cycle the full circle of the loch… that’s about 12 miles!! The route takes you down to the lochside on a few occasions, and through varied woods and marshland, with lots of opportunities for bird-spotting!

There’s also quite a few places to stop and grab a nice bite to eat, or even just coffee and cake! (Who doesn’t love cake?!)

One of my ultimate favourite things to do in the summer months is grab the boat from the Kinross side of the Loch across to “Castle Island” which is where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner for a time – very interesting, and a great spot for a picnic on a sunny day! As you can see – it’s pretty open at parts, and can be windy! Wrap up warm! :)

Gregor Runciman (Homerun) : Dundee Law

Around Tayside & Fife, one of my favourite places has to be up the Law in Dundee, simply because of the view over the city, the Tay and beyond. Luckily for me the last time I was up, it was super sunny which made it look even better. It's an amazing vantage point to see the progress and work going on across Dundee including the V&A, but also far enough away to enjoy some piece and quiet. Well worth a wee trip up for some pics :)

John Milne (Saturday Afternoon) : Shakin' Brig of Edzell

If you want to find all the best places in the area - get yourself a dog :) Every week is a new adventure as we explore the area and Shakin' Brig of Edzell combines some spectacular scenery, an actual suspension bridge and a good trek for 2 or 4 legs!

Edzell has a special hold as the Castle was the venue for my wedding in 2008 - We try and visit as often as we can - summer is ideal so you can reward yourself with an ice-cream after your walk.
