It's that time of the month again where we handpick all the best events for the month ahead, there's so much festive fun to be had all around Hull this December! From hot chocolates with a twist for the adults to Sleigh Rides for the kids, don't miss out on all the amazing events Hull has to offer!

1. Thor’s Tipi Bar

“THOR’S tipi bar plays on Yorkshire’s Viking heritage. With two linking canvas tipis to create the bar, you can sit back and relax by the fire pit, surrounded by delicate lighting, cosy fur throws and enjoy a goodie or two.” Thor’s serves all the classics, from draft ales and warm cider to mulled wine and hot chocolate with a twist!

Don’t worry though there’s something for the kids too; a hot chocolate station allows your little ones to add a special toppings to their homemade treat!

Plus, don’t miss the outside barbeque offering a selection of Yorkshire favourites!

2. Christmas @ Burton Constable Hall

Head over to Burton Constable Hall this Christmas to experience the joys of a traditional Christmas; with over 30 rooms to explore, bursting with seasonal flower displays, festive decorations and garlands plus all the fine art and furniture from the Hall’s long history.

The kids will love the twinkling lights and cracker hunt which will see them search for Christmas crackers hidden in each room of the house.

Hall: Open daily 11am to 4pm, last admission 3pm. Stables, Grounds, Stables Tea Room and Gift Shop open daily 11am – 5pm, last admission to the Stables & Grounds 4pm.

3. Board the PQ Express to visit Santa and his Elves in The North Pole

For just £6 per child your kids can visit Santa in his Grotto this Christmas! Includes a personalised entry ticket and a magical train ride on the PQ Express. Visit the Elves in their workshop and enjoy a selection of festive fun activities! Then meet the main man himself, Santa! All children will receive a gift and have the opportunity for a picture with Santa (for an additional cost)

Featuring a range of twinkling lights and magical sounds the experience is great for kids of all ages. There’s also a sensory friendly hour every Thursday from 9.30am-10am or 6pm-7pm.

Board the train at the station platform, the PQ Express will then take you on a journey all the way to the Elves’ workshop in the North Pole!

Open from 12pm on Sunday the 19th of November until Christmas Eve. You do not have to book to visit Santa but it is encouraged, pre-book online at the Princes Quay website to avoid queues. Tickets are £6 per child, there is an online booking fee of 50p per transaction.

4. Peter Pan @ Hull New Theatre

Darren Day, Brendan Sheerin, Charlie Hardwick, Jonny Labey, Sid Sloane and Ricky K lead the cast in this family favourite! Reaching new heights, Peter Pan is set to be the biggest pantomime ever performed in the newly redeveloped venue in Kingston Square. With amazing flying effects, a fantastic underwater 3D sequence and all the usual pantomime fun this is one for all the family!

5. Gatsby Christmas Party @ Mercure Grange Park Hotel, Hull

With all the old glitz and glam of Christmas the Mercure Grange Park Hotel are hosting a Christmas party night with a roaring 20s theme!

With a red carpet arrival and three course meal you’ll feel like you’re back in the good old days, a DJ takes over in the evening to get everyone up on the dance floor.

Flapper dresses, trilbies and 3 piece suits are welcomed!

Starting at 7pm, pre-party bar offers are available from 6pm – 7pm. Dinner will be served at 7:45pm. To finish the night in style the bar and disco will run until 1am.

6. A Christmas Carol @ Hull truck Theatre

The classic Christmas story is retold this December at Hull Truck Theatre, Ebenezer Scrooge is brought to life by Christopher Wright who heads up the cast.

““A Christmas Carol remains as fresh and relevant today as it was in 1843. It’s a heart-warming and hopeful tale about how generosity can triumph over inequality, and how everyone deserves a chance at redemption.” Playwright Deborah McAndrew”

Filled with festive joy and the true meaning of Christmas, A Christmas Carol is now accessible for everyone, with a captioned performance taking place on Thursday the 4th of January at 7pm.

7. Artisan Christmas Market @ Humber Street

Visit the artisan Christmas marketing at Humber Street on weekends in December. Running until the 23rd of December 2017 it’s the perfect opportunity to finish (or start!) your Christmas shopping. Plus, don’t miss the many different street foods available, live musicians and entertainment. Best of all the market is predominantly based indoors making it perfect for rainy days too!

8. Festival of Carols @ Hull City Hall

The magic of Christmas is brought to you this Christmas by 40 of Hull’s primary schools; with a whole variety of Christmas carols, music and a nativity performance there won’t be a dry eye in the house!

The nativity sees a massive twist this year; with giant puppets taking centre stage and a sung narrative – you definitely haven’t seen this before!

Watch the brilliant performance on the 6th of December 2017 at Hull City Hall at 7:30pm.

9. Watch a Christmas classic @ The Moonlight Drive-in Cinema

Visit the open cinema in Hull, this December. Showcasing a whole host of Christmas favourites there’s a movie for everyone! Some of the classic on show include:

10. Skating @ The Den

Skate up a storm at William’s Den. The rink itself is outdoor and eco-friendly; surrounded by fairy lights you’re bound to feel Christmassy!

With music to sing along to, hot chocolate, mulled wine, warm Belgian waffles plus tons of other festive foods there’s something for everyone.

Skating sessions last 30 minutes, skates are included plus there’s push-along penguins for kids (or unsteady adults!!) We suggest that you arrive 15 minutes before you session begins to ensure you have enough time to layer up on socks and get your boots on.

After you’ve finished skating stop off at The Kitchen Table – The Den’s very own restaurant, serving homemade food perfect for all the family. Plus grab a real Christmas tree perfect to decorate the house with. William’s Den has your Christmas covered!
