Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke: "I can't stand sex scenes!"

Despite GoT being infamous for its raciness

Daenerys Targaryen herself, Emilia Clarke, says she “can’t stand” sex scenes.

Despite doing some nudity herself on Game of Thrones – a show that’s infamous for explicit sex scenes - 28-year-old Emilia says she “cringes” at sex on movies and television calling most of it “gratuitous.”

"Sex scenes should be more subtle," Emilia told the Daily Mail. “I’m British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway - I can’t stand it.”

“Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they’re usually just to attract an audience. On screen, the subtler the better.”

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph back in 2013, former Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin revealed that a major character had stopped doing sex scenes.

Although she didn’t name names, it seems to tie in with Emilia.

“One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, 'I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts.’”

The sixth season of Game of Thrones hits Sky Atlantic in April 2016.
