Gemma Atkinson reveals how she and Strictly's Gorka Marquez got together

They both starred on Strictly Come Dancing

Following weeks of rumours, Gemma Atkinson has now confirmed that she is dating Spanish professional dancer Gorka Marquez! The pair met on last year's Strictly Come Dancing, however Gemma has revealed that they weren't together then, and their relationship is more recent, since they started the Strictly Come Dancing tour together.

Speaking this morning on the radio show Gemma co-hosts, she explained how during Strictly they only saw each other at weekends and they "genuinely weren't together". However, it wasn't until the tour started that they had the opportunity to spend more time together and they thought, "this could work, and it did!"

Gemma was then quizzed by her co-host Matt Haslam who asked what it was that attracted her to the "bendy 27-year-old". Gemma responded by saying he was very funny, "I like the fact that he's funny" she replied "he makes me laugh!"

Gemma went on to explain how at the moment it is a long distance relationship, Gorka is based in London, whilst she is in Manchester. However, she thinks the distance is a good thing as it means they both have to make an effort, as they talk every day.

Gabby Allen and Myles Stephenson

After her split from fellow Love Island star Marcel Somervillle, CBB star Gabby Allen announced she is now dating X Factor winner Myles Stephenson.

Gemma has recently been on holiday with Gorka, and over the weekend Gorka posted some photos on Instagram, showing the couple spending time together.

Gemma also posted some short videos of the couple captioned, 'From sharing post rehearsal pancakes on a wet day in London to an amazing holiday in the Canaries. What a fun week we’ve had @gorka_marquez 😘'. See her posts here >>

Gemma and Gorka met when they were both taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2017, however they were paired with different dancing partners. Gemma was with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, whilst Gorka was paired with Alexandra Burke.

When she was first chosen to take part in the series Gemma said she had never danced professionally before and described herself as "Bambi on ice". However, despite her original comment she did extremely well in the series, getting through to the final.

On the night the series winners were Joe and Katya performing a Viennese Waltz, Showdance and Charleston.
