Ayr’s own version of classic board game ‘Monopoly’ has hit the shops!

The big reveal took place just after midnight on Tuesday, when Culzean Castle was crowned the ‘Mayfair of Ayr’, and Ayr Racecourse replaces Park Lane from the London version of the game.

A unique set of three Burns landmarks also feature, with Brig O’Doon, Burns Cottage and the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum taking pride of place on the board.

The train stations from the original board have taken on a travel theme for the Ayr edition, with Prestwick Airport, Ayr Railway Station and the Electric Brae featuring alongside the Auld Brig.

Other landmarks on the board include Ayr Town Hall, Greenan Castle, the Grain Exchange, Belleisle Park and St John’s Tower. Ayr United FC, Ayr Rugby, the Kyle Centre, Dunaskin Doon Band and Whiteleys Retreat have also been granted their places.

Even West FM and Cash For Kids play our own starring roles as we take on the Chance and Community Chest spots! You’ll recognise a local theme - one card rewards players for putting their litter in the bin to avoid feeding the seagulls, and another gives away £200 for hearing a ghost at Culzean Castle!

It’s sure to be a favourite Christmas Gift for anyone with a connection to Ayrshire and you can win your very own copy all this week on Billy Kirkwood At Breakfast!

Ayr’s version of Monopoly goes on sale from 10am today, 20th October 2020.
