There is an appeal for help to save a dog home in Ayrshire from closing down for good.

Islay Dog Rescue near Cumnock saves dogs from the pounds, where they'd be put to sleep if unclaimed within a week.

The owner, Lorraine Jardine, looks after them in kennels for as long as it takes to find them a new home and family.

But earlier this year, Lorraine told West FM News how they were facing issues with electrics. She said they need to completely rewire the kennels to make it safe.

A number of tradespeople came forward to volunteer their services but nothing ever came of it.

Lorraine says, "Our electrics are dangerous. We crowdfunded and did really well from that. We have enough money for all the materials but just not enough to pay tradespeople agoing rate and that's really a shame.

"We also really need help from volunteers. People who are happy to walk dogs, clean kennels, do the laundry, anything they want to do. Even if they just want to cuddle a dog for an hour. They would love it.

"If we don't save these dogs, they would die. There is no nice way of putting it, they would be put to sleep.

"If people who support Islay Dog Rescue can't help them, then we're in a poor situation."

Details of how to support the rescue centre can be found here.
