Man dies after being knocked down by a bus in Stevenston

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward

A man has died after he was knocked down by a bus in Stevenston.

Emergency services were called to Kilwinning Road following the incident at around 3:45pm on Wednesday

The 48-year-old man was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Nobody else was injured in the accident.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley from the Trunk Road Policing Unit based at Irvine said:

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and I would ask any witnesses who were in the area around the time of the crash and are yet to speak to officers to please come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact the Trunk Road Policing Unit based at Irvine via 101 and quote incident number 2210/11."
