Man hit by car on A79 Prestwick Loop named

A man who was hit by a car on the A79 Prestwick Loop Road, in Ayrshire has been named by Police as 42-year-old Paul Donachie.

The crash happened at around 11.20pm on the southbound carriageway of the A79, a short distance from the junction with Station Road, Monkton and involved a silver Skoda Octavia.

He died at the scene, but the driver of the car was uninjured.

The roadway was closed for around seven hours for collision investigation to be conducted at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Paul Donachie and our investigation continues into this crash.

“I would ask again for any driver using this route, who may have seen Mr Donachie or the Skoda immediately prior to the collision, to get in touch with officers.

“Anyone recording with dash cam who may have driven this route on Friday night should check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.”
