Man in hospital after being knocked down near Kilmaurs

The driver who hit him didn't stop.

A man is in hospital with a head injury after being knocked down near Kilmaurs.

The 35 year-old was walking on an unclassified road between Kilmarnock and Stewarton around 7.30am on Tuesday 13th August when he was hit near to Buistonhead Farm.

The driver of the black Vauxhall Corsa which hit him, a 48 year-old woman, didn’t stop in the time. She later called police.

The 34-year-old male pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where he was treated for a head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Constable Jonathan Baxter at Ayrshire Road Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses to the incident.

In particular, he would like to speak with the driver of a white hatchback vehicle that is known to have been in the area at the time of the collision.

He would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident, or may have seen a black Vauxhall Corsa being driven in the area either before or after the collision.
