Pro-independence Daily Paper to be Launched

A new pro-independence daily newspaper is to be launched in Scotland next week, it has been reported. The National, published by the Herald and Times group, will be in tabloid form and cost 50p from its release on Monday. It will be the first daily newspaper in Scotland to openly support independence. The Sunday Herald, also part of the Herald and Times group, backed independence during the referendum campaign and its editor Richard Walker will oversee The National, according to the Guardian. When asked about the new publication, a spokeswoman for the Herald and Times said it was making no immediate comment. Sales of the Sunday Herald more than doubled after it backed independence, industry figures showed.
