Road closures across Ayrshire for Tour of Britain and Go Festival

All you need to know about road closures on Saturday 7th September.

Dozens of roads are being closed across Ayrshire as it plays host to two large sport events.

The Tour of Britain passes through several towns in East and North Ayrshire. It'll include twenty of the top cycling teams in the world and hundreds are expected to line the streets to catch a glimpse.

Ayr will also see the first ever Go Festival a running and cycling event which is expected to attract around 1,000 competitors.

Estimated road closures for both events are listed below.

TOUR OF BRITAIN

11am - Stewarton. Cyclists will pass down Old Glasgow Road, through the town centre and out on the A735 road towards Kilmaurs.

11.35am - Kilmaurs. Down Main Street and Kilmarnock Road. Continuing on the A735 road towards Kilmarnock.

11.40am - Kilmarnock. Kilmaurs Road, Hill Street, Witch Road, High Street and London Road and through Crookedholm and Galston Road in Hurlford.

11.50am - Galston. Into Galston past Tesco and the Balmoral Mill Shop. Along Brewland Street. Then taking the B744 out of Galston, towards Crosshands and then Tarbolton.

12.05pm - Tarbolton. Garden Street, Burns Street past Tarbolton Primary, continuing on the B744 to then join the B743 towards Mossblown.

12.10pm - Mossblown. Mauchline Road and Annbank Road and on to the B742 towards Coylton. ****

12.25pm - Coylton. Joining the A70 at Coylton Parish Church. Turning left onto the B742 road towards Dalrymple.

12.35pm - Dalrymple. Along Burnton Road and onto Barbieston Road. Following the B742 towards Kirkmichael.

12.45pm - Kirkmichael. Patna Road turning right onto Straiton Road and following the B7045.

12.55pm - Straiton. Kirkmichael Road and Dalmellington Road then following the B7041.

1.05pm - Dalmellington. Joining Ayr Road through Dalmellington. Bellsbank Road, Carsphairn Road and following the A713 into Dumfries and Galloway.

GO FESTIVAL

Below is an estimate of the closures. There may be times between the races that traffic will be allowed to move in and out of the closure area. However, this is not guaranteed and people are being asked to follow alternative parking instructions and local diversions.

1. Start

1.00 pm Event Village opens. Including free car parking at Old Racecourse football pitches.

2.40 pm Crosshouse Children's Fund Family Cycle Ride starts.

3.00 pm: Ayrshire Cancer Support 5K Challenge to raise awareness for male cancers.

4.20 pm 10k Start time.

5.00 pm Half Marathon start time.

8.00 - 8:30 pm Approximate time of the night time air display and fireworks.

2 Promenade via south harbour and town centre streets to Miller Rd Closed 3:30 pm to approx 5:45 pm

passes through from 4:28 to 4:50 pm

Half marathon from 5:11 to 5:31 pm

3 Miller Rd to Racecourse View Closed 3:45 pm to approx 6:00 pm

passes through from 4:31 to 4:58 pm

Half marathon from 5:16 to 5:50 pm

4 Racecourse View to Park’s Honda garage on Doonfoot Road. Closed 3:45 pm to approx 6:30 pm

passes through from 4:40 to 5:25 pm

Half marathon from 5:27 to 6:20 pm

5 Doonfoot Rd at Greenfield Rd to Doonholm Rd. Closures between 2:20 pm and approx 7:00 pm

Cycles 2:45 to 3:05 pm crossing Doonfoot road from the river to join Greenfield Avenue. Temporary traffic measures at Doonfoot stores.

Cycles 2:47 pm to 3:27 pm cross and join cycle path via Upper Crofts, Rigwoodie Place, Brown drive and footpath on Murdochs Lone. Traffic management in operation to minimise closure.

Half marathon passes through from 5:27 to 6:40 pm

6 Doonholm Rd to High Maybole Rd Closed from 5:00 to 7:15

Half marathon passes through from 5:38 to 6:55

7 High Maybole Rd to Dunure Rd

Temporary traffic management from 2:45 to 3:45 for cycles crossing the A719 Dunure Rd south of Ayr

Closed from 5:00 pm to 8.00 pm

Half marathon passes through from 5:50 pm to 7:25 pm

8 Esplanade and Blackburn Rd Car park Closed 00:01 to 11:00 pm on Saturday 7th September****

Cycles 2:35 to 3:45 pm

4:45 to 5:45 pm

Half marathon 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
