South Ayrshire councillor suspended by SNP following racist online post

A South Ayrshire councillor has been suspended by the SNP for using a racist term in an online post.

Julie Dettbarn - who represents the Kyle ward - is also stepping down as the local authority's chair of health and social work.

In a statement the party told us: “Councillor Dettbarn has taken full responsibility for her unacceptable language and quit her council role. She’s currently suspended pending disciplinary action.
