A potential sighting of a teenager, missing from his home in Saltcoats for nearly three months, has been reported in Dumfries and Galloway.

19-year-old Jamie Cannon was last seen on May 20th at home, with his family saying it's out of character for him to disappear.

His family have been looking for him every day since then, with the community also getting involved in a number of mass searches. But there has been no trace of Jamie.

Now, however, a lorry driver has claimed to have spotted Jamie twice over the last week around the Cairnryan area of Dumfries and Galloway.

Police Scotland is now investigating.

In a statement Chief Inspector Alan Paterson told West FM News: “We remain committed to searching for Jamie and are using all specialist resources available to us. We are extremely grateful to the local community who continue to help us locate him.

“Officers have received a number of calls regarding Jamie since he was reported missing and all information received is investigated fully.

“Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1623 of 22 May."
