Police appeal following fire outside elderly woman's house in Kilmarnock

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 8 o'clock last Saturday night.

Detectives are appealing for the assistance of the public after a fire was set outside an elderly woman's house in New Farm Loch in Kilmarnock on Saturday 11 May 2019.

At around 8.10pm on Saturday 11th May, wheelie bins were set on fire outside a 78 year-old woman’s house in Sinclair Court.

The elderly woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation then later released.

Detective Sergeant Andrea Templeton of Kilmarnock Police Office said: "Officers have carried out a number of enquiries to date and still studying a wide range of CCTV images from the local area, however they are appealing for the assistance of the public to trace whoever is responsible for setting this fire.

"I would urge anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area on Saturday 11th May, or anyone who has information that may assist our investigation to contact Kilmarnock Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 4382 of 11th May. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
