Thunderstorms are expected to form over parts of Northern Ireland this afternoon.

Forecasters have issued a yellow weather warning as heavy showers are likely to develop across counties Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone & Derry~Londonderry.

"Whilst some areas will remain dry, where thunderstorms occur, torrential downpours are possible with potential for 20-30 mm of rain in an hour or two. Frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds are also possible. Thunderstorms will then gradually die out this evening."

The Met Office's weather warning comes into effect from lunchtime lasting through until 9pm Monday.

"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times."
