Further arrests into reports of men carrying weapons in Stoke-on-Trent

Armed police rushed to the scene in the Longton area on Saturday

Three further arrests have been made in the investigation into reports of men brandishing weapons on the streets of Stoke-on-Trent.

Armed officers rushed to the scene on Rochester Road, Longton, at 5.45pm on Saturday.

No-one was injured.

Police say three more arrested were made yesterday:

  • A 64-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate
  • A 31-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so
  • A 29-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate

They have since been released on bail. A 25 year old, from Stoke-on-Trent, who was previously arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, has also been bailed.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who saw anything in that area of Longton on Saturday to contact them on 101, quoting incident 670 of 12 May.
