Embarking on an exciting new chapter, Nubiyan Twist, the vibrant UK Afro-jazz powerhouse led by Tom Excell, release brand new album ‘Find Your Flame’ on May 3rd. This marks a significant evolution for the group as they welcome Sheffield based artist Aziza Jaye to the forefront, adding a fresh dimension of Patois and RnB vocals to their sound.
Known for their eclectic blend of styles and powerful big band sound, Nubiyan Twist gained global acclaim with their 2021 release, ‘Freedom Fables’. Their live performances, a thrilling exploration of tight musicianship and infectious grooves, have consistently mesmerised audiences with their virtuosic nine-piece band.
Since forming in 2011 at the Leeds College of Music, Nubiyan Twist have risen to become one of the leading groups in the fertile UK music scene. Their 2015 s/t debut album and acclaimed ‘Jungle Run ’ in spring 2019 led to their third massive album ‘Freedom Fables’, released on Strut Records in March 2021.
They sold out their entire 2019 UK tour including EartH in London and Trinity in Bristol, and have rocked festival stages at Glastonbury, Wilderness, Love Supreme, Boomtown, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, and David Byrne’s Meltdown. In Europe they've toured twice and played at Supersonic Jazz Festival in Holland, Soundwave in Croatia as well as supporting legends such as Tony Allen and Ebo Taylor.
