Oasis legend Liam Gallagher is voicing hilarious passenger announcements on Manchester’s Metrolink trams this week.

To promote Manchester’s Beyond The Music festival, which runs from today (Wednesday 11th October) until Saturday 14th October, Liam Gallagher has lent his unmistakable voice to the announcements aboard trams on his “favourite” Metrolink line.

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham personally contacted Liam Gallagher to take part, and the 51-year-old music icon duly obliged.

Organisers of Beyond The Music festival are urging attendees to use public transport to the gigs and Gallagher’s involvement is being used to help promote their request.

As you can hear from the 26-second clip below, Liam Gallagher has recorded a special message when the tram reaches Etihad Campus, home of his beloved Manchester City.

Listen to Liam Gallagher voice Manchester Metrolink tram announcements:

Andy Burnham told the BBC: "It means a lot to us that Liam has agreed to do this and show his support for his home city.

"Supporting our music venues and giving people cheaper and better public transport to and from our gigs is what we're all about.

"I am sure that Liam's dulcet tones will wake up a few early-morning commuters, brighten up many a journey, and produce a lot of smiles along the way."

Liam Gallagher revealed this week that he will be announcing a 2024 tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ very “soon.”
