Murder investigation begins after woman's body found at mid Devon address

A murder investigation is underway after a woman was found dead at a property in Tiverton.

The casualty in her 50s was discovered at an address in Bluebell Avenue, just before 7pm on Friday (October 22nd) and her family have been told.

Police and paramedics attended after receiving a report of concern for a person's welfare.

A local man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police remain in the area and a guard is in place at the address.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services were called to an address in Bluebell Avenue, Tiverton, with a report of concern for the welfare of a person at around 6.50pm on Friday 22 October.

"Police and paramedics attended and a woman aged in her 50s was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next-of-kin have been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"A local man aged in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time. Enquiries are continuing.

"Police remain in the area and a scene guard is in place at the address".

On Sunday 24th October, Devon and Cornwall Police said the man arrested on suspicion of murder had been released on bail and enquiries were ongoing.
