What has Dua said about 'Houdini'?

Speaking to us, Dua also told us about her new song, she said: "I just love to play on words I loved... Houdini is an escape artist. And I think you know, for me at least, like the underlying story with it is like knowing your worth, knowing what you deserve, knowing when to stay and knowing when to Houdini.

"It definitely is difficult to have that strength (to leave). You have to just like have the confidence in being like this doesn't feel good for me. You have to go with your gut instinct you have to follow. "

How did Dua Lipa announce her new single?

Dua took to her socials back on 1st November, to share the artwork which is her licking a mirror, with the song's name written in bold yellow writing. She simply captioned the pic: 'HOUDINI ⛓️NOV 9TH 11PM GMT PRE ORDER IN BIO'.

This announcement followed Dua Lipa's previous post where she revealed a new look. Despite the Instagram posts being deleted, at the time of writing the posts on X, formerly Twitter, still remain.

Just three days before, Dua teased fans with a short video where she showed off a new look with red hair, posing with a key on her tongue. The video ends with a series of white numbers on a black screen.

Dua is currently working on her third album, which is due for release in 2024. The singer previously revealed in an interview with New York Times magazine that the album will have a different sound, moving away from disco, but not wanting to alienate her fans, it will still be in the pop genre.

She also told us in an interview: "It definitely has like quite a clear sonic departure from the last record and it has kind of a darker, more psychedelic influence throughout."
