We love these two 🙌

Jordan Lee caught up with Tom Grennan and Ella Henderson to chat about their brand-new collaboration ‘Let’s Go Home Together’.

The track is about the feeling of a night out and the characters you meet at the pub, something that we haven't experienced a lot in the last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The video was even filmed in a pretend pub and shows Tom and Ella enjoying themselves.

Tom said, “I think that’s what everybody is missing, just that socializing at a pub. I can’t do clubs, I’m a pub man so when we got the video back, when I was watching it, I thought it was going to really touch people’s hearts and make them remember that feeling. It feels really good.”

The song was written by Ella Henderson and fellow X Factor star James Arthur, who was originally intended for the duet, but Ella said that she thinks Tom is a perfect fit.

Ella said, “Just hearing Tom’s voice on it, it all just came to life and he put his own spin on it. He’s such a cheeky character, that’s what it needs. I’ts so tongue-in-cheek, we’re literally taking the mick out of each other in our verses, that’s literally how we are anyway.”

“When I heard it played back for the first time and our voices started to get mixed in the room. It is so nice when you hear your voice and another voice blend when you actually get on with that person.”

Ella and the Tom first met at his debut album launch party and have been friends ever since.

Ella joked that even her mum was a big fan of Tom’s, “My mum tells me what Tom is up to every day at the moment! She likes all his Instagram, she’s like ‘Why isn’t Tom following me back?’ She absolutely adores Tom!”

Tom released his brilliant solo single ‘Little Bit Of Love’ earlier this year and isn’t slowing down, with the follow up to his debut album, ‘Evering Road’, coming in March.

He said, “Things are really feeling like they’re falling into place, the album is coming up in March, my single ‘Little Bit Of Love’ is doing really well at the moment and mine and Ella’s song too. Things are just feeling really good. I feel like me and Ella have come together and really smashed it.”

Ella admitted she would be taking some time out to focus on her solo music after a number of collaborations with the likes Sigala, Kygo, Sigma and most recently, Roger Sanchez.

She said, “This song has always been there and something that I have held close to me. I think with the body of work that I have been working on to come out on my own without collaborations and duets, I think this record really sets that tone again for me.

“When you hear what’s to come from me as a solo artist again, this is definitely the realm. It’s exciting to kick it off with Tom.”
