Family of Love Island's Mollie release apology on her behalf after 'allergy' comments
Her comments upset an allergy charity
Whilst new girl Mollie Salmon attempts to 'crack on' with the boys in the Love Island villa, ahead of the dramatic Casa Amor recoupling, her family have been forced to release an apology on her behalf.
The 23-year-old make-up artist from Southampton appeared on a pre-recorded VT during Sunday night's episode of Love Island: Aftersun, where she said: “I actually dated a boy with loads of allergies. When you go to a restaurant and you can’t eat anything on the menu, and it’s really frustrating.”
After seeing Mollie's comment, a charity called Allergy UK took to social media to express their disappointment, writing: 'We’re disappointed with statements made by a @LoveIsland contestant in Sun Ep of AfterSun re food allergies. It highlights why we need better awareness around the reality of living with allergies. We urge speaking up about allergies yet such attitudes make it harder to do so. ' (sic)
Mollie's family have now released a statement, apologising for her comments on her behalf.
Taking to Mollie's Instagram Story, the post read: 'On behalf of Mollie we’d like to apologise for any upset caused by the allergy comment made.
'This was not said with any bad intentions and wasn’t said to purposely be offensive or upset anyone. Mollie herself suffers from an allergy to seafood! Thank you for the continued love and support.' (sic)

Since Mollie's arrival into the villa on Sunday night, viewers have likened her to 2019 contestant Amy Hart, with many claiming bosses have found a 'clone' of her.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: 'Mollie is literally Amy Hart’s twin #LoveIsland', with another adding: 'mollie literally looks and sounds like amy hart #LoveIsland'. (sic)
A third then wrote: 'Mollie sounds like Amy Hart, and looks like her too #LoveIsland'. (sic)
In other Love Island news, after Casa Amor boy Samuel Agbiji left Paige Thorne in tears during Tuesday night's episode, after dropping some home truths about Jacques O'Neill, Jacques kisses Cheyanne Kerr on tonight's (Wednesday 6th July) show.
