Applications for Race Across the World series 5 have been extended

After three successful main series, and a very popular celebrity edition, BBC show Race Across The World was renewed for a fourth series last year, and with the series airing now, bosses have now confirmed the show will be back for a fifth instalment!
As we all enjoy weekly episodes, BBC bosses have now extended the application date for series five, and they are on the lookout for 'intrepid duos of all ages' who are ready to take a step into the unknown and embark on an epic race across land and sea.
How do I apply?
Fans are being urged to apply for series five online, with the website stating: 'We are now accepting applications for the next series of Race Across the World. This experience is open to all, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or total novice. We want to hear what undertaking a trip like this would mean to you, and with a cash prize at stake, what lengths you would go to to win.
'Maybe you’re looking to change something in your life? Or are keen to share the journey with someone special like a family member, best friend, or someone you’ve lost touch with. You may even have a very personal reason for wanting to travel at this time in your life or explore a particular part of the world'.

Applications were due to close Friday 19th April 2024, but they've now been extended until Sunday 5th May 2024.
When will filming take place?
According to the application form, bosses are planning to film the fifth series over an eight week stint between October and December 2024.
When will it be on TV?
It hasn't yet been confirmed when series five will air, but with filming due to take place at the end of 2024, we imagine it will air around Spring 2025.
Series four, which started on 10th April, airs every Wednesday night on BBC One.

As well as the main show being renewed, it was announced back in November that there's going to be a second instalment of the hugely popular celebrity edition, which saw Harry Judd, Mel Blatt, Billy Monger and Alex Beresford all take part.
