Rob Brydon does NOT want any more Gavin & Stacey after Christmas Special 😱

But he's told us for why...

While Rob Brydon is known for many different achievements over the years, for most of us, he'll always be Uncle Bryn in our hearts. When co-creators Ruth Jones and James Corden announced the Christmas Special 2019 in May last year, we were obviously excited to find out what Gavin and Stacey had been up to - but the thought of more Bryn was the real draw.

However, Rob has proceeded to break all our hearts on the red carpet at the National Television Awards this week when asked about future series of the show.

Although Ruth Jones has not ruled out the notion of a future series or at least revisiting the characters in some way, Rob has said he's absolutely not on board with the idea of going back to the Barry-based family.

Speaking to our friends at heatworld on the red carpet, Rob was asked whether he'd return to the show, "There are no plans whatsoever and personally I would say leave it where it is, with people wanting more.

"It’s always my instinct and I said that before this special and I was very surprised then to see that they had written it. Everyone is saying, 'You must want to do more,' but I’d much rather leave it on a high and it’s really hard to come back after 10 years and to make something as popular as it has been because you can get it wrong."

But could this be a double-bluff? Maybe they've already discussed it, it's happening and he's trying to throw us off the scent? We refuse to believe it's over!

It's no wonder that fans are calling for more of the show, after the Christmas Special was watched for a ginormous total of 707,889 hours between 25th and 29th December last year - that equates to just over 80 YEARS. It was also the most-watched Christmas Day show since Doctor Who in 2008.

Joanna had already featured in a major TV drama AND an iconic movie by the time she took on the role of Barry's princess, Stacey - namely the BBC adaptation of David Copperfield which launched the career of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, as well as Christmas staple, Love Actually. He also starred in British TV series Teachers and an episode of Doc Martin, before hitting it big as the loveable Gavin Shipman.

Mathew Horne: Now

Mathew understandably shot to fame after the first series of Gav and Stace, most notably as a sort of double act with James Corden.
