Blur's Graham Coxon offers to help Oasis reunite
He will "have a chat" with Liam and Noel
Former Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has offered to help mediate an Oasis reunion.
Blur and Oasis were of course fierce rivals in the mid-1990s and often traded insults in interviews. The August 1995 chart battle between Oasis’ ‘Roll with It’ and Blur’s ‘Country House’ was billed as The Battle of Britpop in the media, and Blur ultimately triumphed.
In more recent years, the relationship between the two bands has softened with Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher becoming friends and musical collaborators.
In a new interview with the Evening Standard, Graham Coxon was asked about the chances of a Blur reunion in 2023.
Coxon said: “No, I don’t know what’s going on with Blur, we haven’t really talked about anything. I don’t really know what it is. It’s actually quite important that I say nothing about it for personal reasons.”
Pressed as to whether they will ever reunite, Coxon replied: “I hope so. We always get round to it sooner or later.”
Despite Blur not reuniting, Coxon said he was looking forward to Pulp getting back together and called on Oasis’ Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher to end their squabbling.
“That would be fun (seeing Pulp return),” Coxon said. “Just need Oasis to do it. Knock those brothers’ heads together.”
Asked if he’d be happy to help get Oasis back together, Coxon replied: “Yes any day. I’d do that. I’d have a chat with them.”
