Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have premiered their brand-new song ‘Blue Moon Rising’ and its accompanying moody video.
The title-track of the forthcoming EP of the same name, ‘Blue Moon Rising’ sees Noel boldly abandon his indie-rock Oasis roots in favour of funk-tinged disco sounds.
Confirming the song isn’t about his beloved Manchester City, Noel says of ‘Blue Moon Rising’: “How it manages to combine the influences of Metallica, The Jesters Of Malice, Mantovani, Robinson Crusoe as well as Bob Marley AND The Wailers is literally beyond me… oh, and it’s not about City by the way.”
The video stars critically acclaimed actor Jack O’Connell and actress/model Gala Gordon, alongside Noel himself.
Filmed at London music venue Scala and directed by Dan Cadan and Scully – who also helmed Noel Gallagher's festive-themed 'Wandering Star' video – the video’s narrative is described as “a game of power play, charged with drama, ‘70s undertones and cinematic flare.”

Featuring three new songs and two remixes, the ‘Blue Moon Rising’ EP is released digitally and on limited edition vinyl on Friday 6th March 2020, and is available to pre-order right here.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds play two nights at Manchester O2 Apollo on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th March. Head to Absolute Radio Tickets to buy tickets.
They also play a completely sold-out show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Friday 27th March as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series, before playing a series of outdoor shows this summer.
