Noel Gallagher has issued a short and concise response to Liam Gallagher’s claims that he’s been ‘begging’ his younger sibling for an Oasis reunion.

On Wednesday night (8th January), Liam took to Twitter to tell his 3.2million followers he’s retiring as a solo artist once he’s released his third studio album as “I just don’t think I’ll be able to work with myself any longer.”

Very possibly with his tongue firmly wedged in his cheek, in a second tweet Liam quipped that one of the reasons he’s thinking of hanging up his solo boots is that Noel has begged him for an Oasis reunion.

Liam wrote: “I intend to retire as solo artist after album no3 as I have just had a call from my brother begging me to start oasis again in 2022 if you believe in life after love c’mon you know LG x”

Liam’s comments were retweeted over 30,000 times by Oasis fans sincerely hoping that he was telling the truth.

Unfortunately – and highly predictably - Noel has now shot down Liam’s claims and accused his brother of overindulging in the “leftover Christmas Babycham.”

In a text to TalkSport, he wrote: “RE: ‘The Reunion’, sadly I think the other fella must have been on the leftover Christmas Babycham.

“For the record, until anyone hears it from ME, it’s not happening.”

Just last November, Noel accused Liam of damaging the chances of an Oasis reunion due to his constant digs at him on Twitter.

"It's strange behaviour for someone who is gagging for me to pick up the phone and say let's do (an Oasis reunion),” Noel explained to The Big Issue.

"He'd put his whole life on hold to get Oasis back together but every tweet he sends out, it's another nail in the coffin of that idea."

Speaking to Liam directly, Noel added: "If you think for one minute, I am going to share a stage with you after what you've said you are f---ing more of a moron than you look."

The very same morning, Liam hit back on Twitter, writing: “So news reaches me from a far that team NG are trying to get me shut down on twitter coz they don’t like my tweets did dums good luck you little fart c’mon you know LG x”

Noel also discussed Liam with Absolute Radio backstage at Isle of Wight Festival last June:

Oasis officially split in August 2009 just days after they aborted their headline appearance at V Festival in Chelmsford.

Noel broke the news on the band’s official website, writing: “It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
