Liam Gallagher has joined forces with Manchester United footballing legend Eric Cantona for the brilliant video to his new single ‘Once.’

Eric Cantona first professed his love for Liam Gallagher’s ‘Once’ shortly before Christmas when he shared an Instagram video of himself animatedly singing along to the track on his sofa.

The French footballer captioned the post "When two Manchester legends meet. ‘Once’ is my song of the year.”

Huge fans of each other, it has since emerged that staunch Manchester City fan Liam personally approached Eric Cantona to star in his new video - and the results are incredible.

Filmed in one continuous shot, and in keeping with the nickname bestowed upon him by Manchester United fans, Eric Cantona stars as an eccentric and debauched king who traverses his vast home wearing a robe and crown.

Liam, meanwhile, stars as his faithful and doting butler who pours him drinks and caters to his every whim.

Directed by Charlie Lightening (‘As It Was’), a statement from Liam’s label Warner Music says ‘the video encapsulates the message of the song – a nostalgic yearning for a once-in-a-lifetime moment that can’t ever be replicated. But it’s also a celebration of everything that was achieved.’

Liam Gallagher himself comments: "I’m absolutely thrilled to have Eric Cantona, the last rock ‘n’ roll footballer, star in my video for ‘Once’. Songs like this don’t come around very often and neither do football players like him."

Closing the EP is a demo version of ‘Once’. Liam comments: “This is the original demo. It’s my favourite version; it’s silky smooth and it's fizzy bubblech. Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream!”
