The Charlatans' Tim Burgess to give NHS staff free guestlist places on tour

Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess has promised to give free guestlist places to NHS staff on his next tour.
The 52-year-old singer was due to kick off his lengthy solo UK tour at Newcastle Think Tank on Friday 1st May and conclude at Manchester Yes on Saturday 20th June, however he confirmed on Twitter this afternoon the tour has been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) .
Paying tribute to the heroic NHS staff on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, Tim Burgess has vowed to offer his available guest list spots to NHS workers when the tour gets rearranged.
“I get an allowance for a decent number of guests at each show that we play,” Burgess told his Twitter followers. “If/ when my tour gets re-scheduled, all the guestlist places will be set aside for NHS staff.”
He added: “Now, I know that’s not much with everything that’s going on right now but I’m trying to feel more useful.”
Over the weekend Burgess announced he was launching Twitter listening parties at 10pm each day this week featuring classic indie albums.
Burgess kicks things off tonight (23rd March) when he will be tweeting during a playback of The Charlatans’ 1990 debut album ‘Some Friendly’.
Franz Ferdinand will guide fans through their self-titled debut album ‘Franz Ferdinand’ at 10pm on Tuesday, followed by Blur’s ‘Parklife’ on Wednesday with drummer Dave Rowntree tweeting, and Ride’s ‘Going Blank Again’ on Thursday featuring tweets from Andy Bell and Loz Colbert.
The series concludes with Liam Gallagher and Bonehead tweeting during the listening party for Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe.’
