Man dies after being hit by car in Glasgow

The incident happened on Royston Road at around 10.45pm last night

A man has died after he was struck by a car in Glasgow last night.

Police responded to Royston Road in the city following reports of a road crash at around 10.45pm.

Emergency services attended, but the 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force confirmed the 40-year-old female driver of a black Peugeot 3008 was uninjured.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow for a full collision investigation to take place.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers have urged anyone with information to come forward.

They are keen to speak to the occupants of a taxi they believe was in the area at the time of the crash.

Sergeant Kenneth Malaney, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who lost his life.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash. We are appealing for anyone with any information who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a taxi we believe was in the area around the time of the crash.

“I would also urge anyone with dash cam footage which captures the vehicle or the pedestrian to get in contact, as they may be able to assist our enquiries.”
