Mikey Johnston has joined West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season.

The Celtic winger becomes the latest player to depart the club this month.

Johnston has made 12 appearances so far this season, scoring two goals.

The 24-year old has been at the club since he was nine years old and has a contract at Parkhead until 2026.

He had a successful loan spell at Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães last season but has been unable to become a regular under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park.

Chances would be even more limited after Celtic secured the signing of winger Nicolas Kuhn earlier in the window.

Upon signing Johnston said: “I want to hit the ground running and make an impact right away.

“I think the deal has been rumbling on since the start of the window, so I’m just happy to get it over the line.

“Right from the start, the gaffer Carlos Corberán was on to me to get me in. He was telling me all about the way he likes to play and bits about the club.

“I was really keen as soon as I spoke to him. He’s impressive. You know exactly what he needs from you and it’s exactly the type of manager I like to work under.”
