Scot Andy Murray, who won gold in the Men's singles at London in 2012, has been selected to lead out Team GB at the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio.

Murray is the reigning Olympic tennis champion and will lead out British athletes on Friday night.

He will also be the first tennis player to act as flag bearer for Britain at the games.

Of his appointment Murray said, "I am very proud to be selected as the Team GB Flagbearer for the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony on Friday."

"The privilege of being the flag bearer is a moment I will remember for the rest of my life and will certainly be one of the highlights of my career."

It's been quite the year for Murray already as he won his second Wimbledon Championships last month.

He also chose to share a picture of himself holding the trophy in the ice bath.

Murray has had lots of reasons to celebrate as he and wife Kim Sears welcomed their first daughter, Sophie Olivia, in February.
