Charmed star Shannen Doherty posts photos of her shaven her head as she battles cancer
She has had breast cancer since last year.
Shannen Doherty, best known for playing Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Prue Halliwell in Charmed has posted a series of moving photos on Instagram documenting her shaving her head.
The 45-year-old actress released a statement last year confirming she had breast cancer and thanked those closest to her for their support and has since spoken about it at a couple of interviews.
In the photos, simply captioned Steps 1 - 6, they show Shannen getting a comforting hug from her mum before her hair is cut short and then shaved off.
Part way through the process she poses with her friend Anne Kortright-Shilstat for a selfie.
Each of her photos has received hundreds of comments from her followers around the world with the Step 6 photo having over 1,000 comments of support telling the actress to be brave and strong.
Shannen, who also starred in the 80s cult film Heathers, said in an interview earlier this year that she and her husband would have liked to have had kids, but they couldn't as the medicine that she was on prevented her getting pregnant.
Shannen has been married to her photographer husband Kurt Iswarienko since 2011.
