Eamonn Holmes has been criticised by This Morning viewers after he said Prince’s ‘flamboyancy’ caused a ‘problem’ for male fans.

The presenter, who hosts the show alongside his wife Ruth Langsford on Fridays, sparked an outrage on Twitter with fans of the music legend who sadly passed away at the age of 57 yesterday. (21st April).

Speaking about the singer’s death, Eamonn looked back at his monumental career and said “I think there was a problem with Prince. He was more of a girl's artist than a boy's artist”.

The 56-year-old then went on to say “We find it hard to relate to him because there’s that flamboyancy that you had with David Bowie as well.”

Eamonn’s comment caused outrage, with fans of Prince taking to Twitter to express their anger at his opinion.

Later in the show, Ruth and Eamonn also found themselves confused over the lyrics of Prince’s hit song ‘Kiss’.

The presenter has only recently returned to the show after taking time off to recover from a double hip replacement.

The news of Prince’s death shocked the world yesterday after his publicist confirmed he had been found dead at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota.

Fans of the ‘Purple Rain’ hit maker have been paying tributes to the star since the news broke, with some even attending an all-night dance party in his home town of Minnesota to celebrate the singer’s incredible life.

The cause of death is still unknown.
