After TV presenter Ant McPartlin was arrested and then later charged with drink driving last week, over the weekend claims suggested that Ant and his on-screen partner Dec Donnelly will be replaced for I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here later in the year.

With the show scheduled to return in November, The Daily Star reported a source saying, "There's a very real possibility that Ant won't be available to present the next series of the jungle.

"While Ant and Dec are a big part of the show, they aren't bigger than the show. They are confident it would still work without them. If their return is going to be a problem, producers aren't afraid to axe them from the format and get new presenters in."

However, shutting down the claims, ITV reportedly hit back by telling Mail Online, "It is utter nonsense to suggest that Ant and Dec are set to be replaced on I’m A Celebrity."

Despite the rumours being shut down, fans of the popular ITV reality show were quick to vent their thoughts on a series without both Ant and Dec...

The news comes after ITV released a lengthy statement last week, revealing Ant had decided to step down from all TV duties so he could return to rehab to get help for his addictions.

It read, "Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments. He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

"ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend. We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment. We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs."

Just a few days later, Dec released his own statement confirming the final two shows of Saturday Night Takeaway will be going ahead as usual. He wrote, 'Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead.

'We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that.'

Although it hasn't yet been confirmed, rumours today are suggesting that James Corden could join Dec to host the final show in America.

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is set to return to ITV on Saturday 31st March.
