The BBC has released the first trailer for the upcoming drama series The Tourist, starring Jamie Dornan as an unnamed man who wakes up with amnesia.

The mystery thriller, written by Flea Bag/Baptiste’s Harry and Jack Williams, will be making its UK debut on January 1, 2022, on BBC One.

In the trailer, we get a sneak-peek at Dornan’s character attempting to retrace his steps. We also get a glimpse of some of his co-stars in the drama, Line of Duty's Shalom Brune-Franklin (Luci Miller) and Unbelievable’s Danielle Macdonald.

A tweet shared by the BBC reads: "What he doesn’t know, could kill him.⁣" How mysterious!

Jamie also posted the trailer on his Instagram this morning, tagging his co-stars with the caption: "The Tourist. Coming very soon! Love all of these lunatics..."

The 50-second trailer sees Dornan’s character ask the question: “Why would somebody want me dead?” before a montage teases everything from explosions, car chases to helicopter searches.

Filming for The Tourist took place back in March this year, in Adelaide, Australia.

Just last month, we caught up with the Co Down actor at the red carpet premiere of his new movie Belfast, at the Waterfront Hall.

Jamie describes his latest role as Da in the film as a total one off! "I've done a lot of work set here, I'll endeavour to do more and more work here, it means everything to me.

"Much of this film is for the people here, for the resilience, the brilliance, the humour and for everything that the great people of this city and part of this world has been through."

Belfast is tipped for Oscar glory, with Jamie, Dame Judi Dench and rising star Jude Hill all tipped as front-runners for the coveted awards.
