10 dog-friendly walks in Northern Ireland perfect for autumn

Who doesn't love autumn? The crunch of the leaves below your feet... trees changing into colours of red, orange, and yellow.
We've compiled a list of the best dog walks across the country. The ten walks include beaches, lochs, parks and path walks.
Rowallane Garden, Saintfield
Make sure to visit the outdoor exercise area where dogs are allowed to roam free off their leads. The onsite café is the perfect place to relax after a walk. Dogs must be kept on a lead within the grounds.
Murlough Beach, Newcastle
Murlough is a vast, five-mile long, golden sand beach, nestling under the beautiful Mourne Mountains in Newcastle. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the nature reserve. Car Park, located next to Lazy BJ Ranch and Mourneview Caravan Parks.
Benone Strand, Castlerock
One of Northern Ireland's longest beaches with views of Co.Donegal and Scotland. Seasonal dog free zone May - Sept. Boardwalks in duneland may be used for dog walking to reach open beach.
West Strand, Portrush
Lovely golden, sandy beach looking west from the seaside town of Portrush. Car parking available along Eglinton Street, with toilets also.
Clare Glen, Tandragee
Delightful walk along the banks of the River Cusher in Co.Armagh. There are a number of colour coded waymarked trails through the woods. Dogs are permitted but must be kept under control.
Cave Hill Country Park, Belfast
Parking available at Belfast Castle, follow the green way marked arrows through the woodland. Offers fabulous views over the city. Not for the faint hearted, very steep climb with unsurfaced paths. Dogs are permitted but must be kept under control.
Slieve Donard, Newcastle
Slieve Donard is the highest of the Mourne Mountains standing at 850m (2,789 ft) tall. Challenging walk, allow 4-6 hours to complete. Park at Donard Car Park and follow the Glen River uphill to the saddle. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead.
Cloughmore Stone, Rostrevor
The Cloughmore car park is 230m above sea level and provides views of the surrounding forest. There are three trails, which vary in length from 1.25 miles to 4.5 miles with great views of Carlingford Lough along the way.
Divis and Black Mountain Trial, Belfast
Enjoy 180 degree views across Belfast city and further afield including Scotland and the Mourne Mountains on a sunny day. Set aside 2-3 hours to complete. A great flat walk for beginners. 4 miles long. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead.
Lagan Towpath, Belfast
Mixed woodland from Belfast to Lisburn along a flat path, famous for walkers and cyclists. Home to a variety of wildlife. The Towpath can be accessed from Lockview Road, Stranmillis. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead.
