The BRIT Awards 2021 with Mastercard kicks off tonight – and this year we have local music producers Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar aka Bicep in the running for not just one award, but two!

Back in January, the Northern Irish duo scored a huge #2 spot on the UK’s Official Albums Chart with their new record ‘Isles’, which also debuted at #5 in the worldwide Spotify album charts.

Bicep are up against some stiff competition in both categories, from Joel Corry in the Best to Little Mix.

Having graced some of the most iconic festival stages around the world including Glastonbury and Coachella, the pair spent their free time stuck in lockdown working on their second album Isles.

Once the news broke about this year nominations, for Breakthrough Artist and Best British Group, they shared an emotional message their social media.

"We both grew up watching the Brit Awards as kids so it's just a bit surreal to now have two nominations.

"It really is a huge honour. Big thanks to everyone that's helped make it happen."

Everything you need to know before tonight’s live ceremony:

Jack Whitehall is returning for a fourth time to host the awards show, with many calling him the 'best host in years'.

Coldplay will open up the show this evening, with performances throughout the night from Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Olivia Rodgrigo and Headie One.

The BRITs usually take place earlier in the year, however covid-19 had other ideas. However, organisers are determined for the show to go ahead, and it was just announced that 4000 fans will be allowed into the event as part of the UK Government’s live event pilot scheme.

Audience members attending the indoor ceremony don’t have to social-distanced or wear face coverings, they will need proof of a negative lateral flow test result to enter the venue and will be required to provide details to NHS Test and Trace and follow Government guidance while travelling.
