Belfast movie wins big at the 2022 Golden Globes

Hitting the big screen later this month, Belfast has already stolen the hearts of Hollywood, having just scooped a coveted Golden Globe award.
Sir Kenneth Branagh’s semi-autobiographical feature film about his home city in the early years of the Troubles, received an almighty seven nominations, taking home the award for Best Screenplay.
The ceremony which took place in Beverley Hills on Sunday (Jan 10th) wasn't televised, following reports that there were no black members of the HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association).
This triggered investigations both behind the scenes of the Globes and other high-profile accolades.
Last night's awards ceremony was a private event, with the winners announced via social media.
Jamie Dornan, Caitríona Balfe and Ciarán Hinds were all recognised with nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category.
Local musician Van Morrison also received a Globes nomination for Best Original Song with Down to Joy.
The Power of the Dog and West Side Story were the biggest winners on the night, as well as Will Smith taking home Best Actor for King Richard.
When asked at the Irish premier of Belfast about the award season buzz, Jamie discussed that his most important critics are those living in Belfast.
"I've done a lot of work set here, I'll endeavour to do more and more work here, it means everything to me.
"Much of this film is for the people here, for the resilience, the brilliance, the humour and for everything that the great people of this city and part of this world has been through."
Oscar nominations will be revealed February 8th, ahead of the ceremony on March 27th. Fingers crossed more
