The High Court is expected to decide today (Thursday) whether Northern Ireland’s abortion law is in breach of the UK’s human rights.

The case was brought by Sarah Ewart who was denied an abortion despite doctors saying her baby would not survive outside the womb.

She had gone to England for a termination and since then has campaigned to change NI's law in cases of fatal foetal abnormality.

Judges will rule whether the law was in breach of Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights.

The ruling is expected 18 days before abortion legislation is set to change in Northern Ireland.
