The total number of deaths in NI linked to Covid-19 has now reached 4,060.
According to the statistics agency, 2,836 (69.9%) took place in hospital.
While 871 (21.5%) in care homes, 16 (0.4%) in hospices and 337 (8.3%) at residential addresses or other locations
The comparative number of deaths reported daily by the Department of Health (DoH) to January 7, 2022 was 3,006.
How does NISRA’s Coronavirus figures differ from the Department of Health’s?
The statistics agency reports its Covid data with a week lag.
NISRA’s data provides a broader picture of the impact of Covid-19 than the death toll reported by Stormont's Department of Health.
The department's statistics focus primarily on hospital deaths and only include people who have tested positive for the virus.
NISRA obtains its data from death certificates on which Covid-19 is recorded as a factor by a medical professional, regardless of where the death took place or whether the patient tested positive.
What are the Department of Health current Covid-19 figures?
As of yesterday (Thursday) the total number of deaths now stands at 3,031.
Fourteen new deaths were recorded yesterday (Thursday) by DOH.
While a further 2,980 people tested positive for the virus.
There are currently 424 hospital inpatients.
