The streets of Derry came to life again over the weekend, not just for Europe’s biggest Halloween celebration. But with crowds dying to hit the dance floors and clubs too.

And one keen local, Joe Hill, was ready and raring to go, so much so, he popped his skates on…literally!

If you haven’t spotted the viral video of Joe effortlessly skating down a steep hill with a pint of Guinness, in the rain, then you must be living under a rock!

Dressed in his best white tuxedo disco costume, complete with wig and backpack, Joe was making his way down Waterloo Street on his way to Paolo’s Pizza.

Local musician Ryan Vail first shared the video on his Instagram story and it got quite the reaction, so shared it on other platforms before it all took off.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Graham Warke, was so impressed he asked the local skater to pop into his office for a pint.

Sharing a snap of the unlikely pair of social media, the Mayor wrote:

“Brilliant to welcome the man of the moment Joe Hill to the Parlour following his dare devil roller skate down Waterloo Street on Sunday night.

“Joe confirmed to me that his pint remained intact following his descent in testing conditions."

The video might be hard to watch, as Joe picks up speed quite quickly downhill, but turns out he's a master on wheels. Joe owns a skate park at Trench Road in Derry and runs bi-monthly roller skating nights at the Glenaden Arena on the Waterside.

FAIR PLAY JOE 👏👏
