Four out of every 10 adults here are listening to Downtown Radio, Downtown Country and Cool FM.

Latest audience figures place the stations as the largest broadcaster in Northern Ireland with a combined audience of 612,000 listeners tuning in every week.

Programme Controller, Stuart Robinson is delighted with the results “Last year we launched a Northern Ireland first ‘Downtown Country’ – the UK’s only 24/7 country music station aimed at offering our audience even more musical choice. We’ve been astounded by the figures for this station, and delighted at the increase which takes us to 89,000 weekly listeners”.

Stuart added “These figures place our group of stations well ahead of all other competitors, I’m particularly pleased with Cool FM’s performance, cementing its Number 1 position by adding on an extra 30,000 listeners”

“Pete Snodden’s morning show on Cool has increased audience by 15% over the year. This means that 246,000 people now tune in to Pete, Paulo and Rebecca each week – more than the entire audience of any other single commercial radio station in Northern Ireland”.

The latest statistics have been produced by RAJAR - the body in charge of measuring radio audiences across the UK.
