A 46-year-old man has been killed in a road crash in Londonderry.

The man was travelling on the Glenshane Road last night (Tuesday) in a grey coloured Vauxhall Crossland which was involved in a collision near the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant at around 11.45.

Two women who were also in the car were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries that are described as serious.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the road last night and who witnessed the collision or anyone who has any mobile phone or dash-cam footage of the incident to contact local officers in Limavady or the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference 1654 23/04/19.

The Glenshane Road was closed between the Garvagh Road in Dungiven and Tobermore Road in Maghera while police continued to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

It re-opened this morning around 10.
