Banbridge: man arrested in connection with shooting in Co Down town

A man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a shooting in Co Down nearly a week ago.

A man in his 40s was shot in a car park on Rathfriland Road in Banbridge last Friday night.

He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Police said they searched two properties in Mullaghbawn and Banbridge yesterday (Wednesday) during their investigation and arrested a 39-year-old man.

A number of items were taken from the properties for examination, police added.
