Met Office issues weekend snow warning for Northern Ireland ☃️❄️

Many places could wake up to a dusting of snow on Saturday

De-icer at the ready, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Northern Ireland, with forecasters warning slippery pavements and travel disruption is likely.

According to The Met Office; "A band of snow is likely to arrive into Northern Ireland during the early hours of Saturday, not all areas will have snow, but where it does fall 1-4 cm are possible widely, with 5-10 cm, perhaps up to 15 cm over high ground."

Across Northern Ireland, snow is likely to turn to rain during the afternoon but could initially lead to tricky travel conditions.

A yellow weather warning is in affect for all of Saturday covering counties Antrim, Derry~Londonderry, Tyrone, Down, Fermanagh and Armagh.

After a frosty start it will be dry, although there may be a few early snow showers in the far east, becoming increasingly cloudy during the day. Feeling cold in the freshening southeasterly wind. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

There will be scattered cloud but mainly dry with strong southeasterly winds, a frost is still likely for most areas. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Friday:

A cloudy day but mainly dry, accompanied by strong winds and coastal gales so still feeling very cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Dry start on Saturday but snow moving east with gales too. Drier overnight but rain and sleet on Sunday and Monday, gales around the coasts. Winds easing Monday.
